The nuclear power can be our friend or our enemy, on one hand it is a resource that we have to obtain big quantities of energy. On the other hand, it can be very dangerous because if it isn't controlled can unleashes a world tragedy.

The nuclear power is obtained doing nuclear reactions by use of chemical elements; the most used for these processes is the uranium. This energy can be obtained of two forms: with the fission and with the fusion.
The nuclear fission develops in the core of the atom. When a neutron collisions in the atom, this becomes unstable and it is discomposed on two elements, liberating some neutrons. This reaction could happens more and more times unless stop it. This form to liberate energy is the one that is used on a nuclear plant. The function of a nuclear plant is become the energy that is liberated in the fission to convert it in electricity. These plants have four parts: a nuclear reactor, where the nuclear reaction is produced; a turbine, which does the electricity with the steam that is created on having warmed water with the hot that is created by the reaction; and a condenser, which become the steam in water again.
The nuclear fusion is the opposite of the fission, in that case two cores join in order to create one’s bigger. On having done that, lots of energy is created and particles are liberated. Like the fission, this reaction being produced more and more, the problem is that this reaction can't be controlled and we can't use the fusion. For example, the nuclear fusion is what happens in the Sun and is what does that it shines.

With the nuclear power big quantities of energy can be obtained, but this one can be used of many forms. A form is to use the energy for creating electricity, but also it is possible to use this energy to do destructive things, as bombs. In the nuclear bombs what is done is the same that is done in a nuclear plant, with the difference that in this case the reaction is not controlled. The problem is not alone the explosion because the radiation that is created is very dangerous. The radiation is energy in the shape of electromagnetic waves that it belongs very harmful to people because it mutates the cells, creating diseases.
An example of what happens when the radiation attacks the people is what happened in Chernovil. In this city of Ukraine occurred an accident in a nuclear power station and radiation went out to the air. Many persons died, many others were evacuated and also, many people suffered the effects of the radiation with diseases.
If the principal nuclear power stations of the world would explode, the liberated radiation would include the whole planet, and life will not possible in the Earth. In addition, the effect of the radiation several years later prevents people coming back of their homes. For that reason only survive people locked in nuclear refuges for a long time. Since it can destroy the humanity, it is necessary to have a lot of care with the nuclear power.
